600% faster? Yes, try this!

Hi mans,

try my compilation of FDM, only replace FDM.exe, or rename it and run (close original FDM before).

http://demo.softpae.sk/fdm.zip

Magic word of this compilation is: mutexes :)

Try run any download, look at CPU usage, look at used handles in taskmanager ... no more 40000 handles, no more 10% or more CPU usage value ... try stop all downloads ... all downloads is stopped in second, try change transfer mode :) Now FDM is great :P

ok i m gonna try it, btw checked with F-Prot antivirus (updated), and nod32 (not updated), apparently its free of viruses :P hey man, btw I dont like resource hoges, lighter but tighter is better.
After some days i will be here again to post if any improvement as he said :)
At last, I found it, after using Gozilla, Getright, DE, Mass Downloader, Star downloader and a lot of others, I see, under my foot, all others, but this.. I love FDM !!

Sure they may not be any viruses, but you didn't check for adware trojans or other nasties.

Isn't it better to ask fdm to look at this release. Maybe they can see where it was tweaked and if worth doing similar with the official fdm.

Oh you are right, actually now i think how could it be 600 times faster??
Any improvement in the code could yield a little bit improvement, but 600 times? isnt it an advertisement technique, So i leave this and gonna delete this downloaded zipped file. thanks , better leave fdm team to check this.

You are stupid ... nothings adware, nothings viruses, and nothing advertisement technique mans, I use subject from another thread on this forum, don't be stupid. Check file size, where I can add any bug code? Look at exe file, it is not compressed.

Improvements is in mutexes, in fsMutex.cpp and .h file, I use rewrited fast mutexex, if you know I speak about. Some problems still here (I cannot disable small status download window), but this is only firt release with this mutexes.

So, test it, it is normal file. And write me here your experience.

Hi Guest, people will take you more seriously if you register and post with your sign-in so we know it's really you. If you haven't noticed, there are spammers and jokers on this forum. It would also help a moderator or developer contact you if they are interested in your file version.

Thank you for trying to make FDM even better. First, I scanned your FDM.exe with my onboard resources and at VirusTotal, no malware detected. So I replaced my FDM.exe with your version on my test computer, but had a graphics problem and didn't test it further.

I know this is only your first version, but you asked for opinions. :)

Hi Jahn,

I am registered, but this forum does not accept my username, when I post, maybe my mistake.

About graphics problem, I know about it, this is one of problem, but FDM working. Because I don't have time to make modification and I am not hardcore C++ programmer, here is files from my Mutex modification, maybe someone finish this modification, or maybe this will inspire to write better implementation (look booost library and rewrite_thread for inspiration).

Second problem I found is DNS. I suggest to impelment DNS cache in FDM! This forward speed of FDM more times (about 10 - 20x faster starting downloads with download about 10 files with about 5 section to file simultaneously). When I use small local DNS server, speed is much better and CPU usage is small. :)

I tried this new mutex realization. I don't know why, but this did not reduce the handle count, but FDM became unstable...
