Seek and Destroy Music Duplicates is a tool for locating and removing duplicated music files. It does not crash on corrupted files and normally suggests the best song from amongst the duplicates. It uses an incremental scanning strategy and uses relatively few system resources. MP3, OGG, WMA, and AAC formats are supported. It allows specified directories to be excluded from the search, and the state of the scanner can be saved to engage incremental scanning when the tool is used periodically. MP3 tag, OGG tag and file data comparators are supported. An XML report can be produced. Duplicates are always moved to the destination folder and not deleted. Release 1.8 has a scanner strategy control panel. The duplicate-matcher strategy is parameterized. The keep-duplicate-file strategy is parameterized. Strategy parameters can be applied to the duplicates without the need for re-scanning the files. Panel has been added where users can recheck duplicates, uncheck deviant duplicates, or uncheck all duplicates. Application is a pure Java product and it uses multi-threading capabilities of the Java environment.

| This is a pretty cool app - I am a mac user myself, but luckily this application runs on almost any platform. (usually there is a smaller choice of free-ware apps for the mac)
So don't be put off because it is pure Java, because it is actually an advantage! It's easy to install, just one click - and it is certified to have no virusses when you download it.
When you start using it, you might frown on the "spartan" appearance of the UI, but any reservations will quickly go away when you notice how fast this baby is.
I have about 20 gig's of songs and it took just 4 min's for the app to do the first search & analysis. And the best thing is that it remembers which files have already been analysed, so the next time I download a bunch of files and look for duplicates, it finishes in a matter of seconds!
