Editor review of TextPredictive
TextPredictive is designed to improve users' typing speed by offering them possible alternatives of the word being typed.
It should be pointed out right at the beginning that the software, unfortunately, failed in our tests: it performed horribly, we are afraid to say. We tried to test its functionality in Microsoft Word, Internet Explorer and ICQ. In each application, the program managed to predict only very simple and short words, such as THE, THAT, BE, AND and HAVE. To add to that, in some cases, TextPredictive showed the word already after it has been typed. The word was shown in a separate window and automatically inserted into the text, which in most cases was very inconvenient, because the program failed to guess the word correctly. Thus, instead of going on typing we had to go back and delete unnecessary letters that have appeared on the screen.
So, we are sorry to say that TextPredictive seems to be completely useless in helping users type texts more quickly. Only if the developers improve the performance of the software considerably, it will be able to contribute something to users' convenience.
