Editor review of Fast Calendar |
2007-11-12 |
The program is a very basic virtual calendar and doesn't offer much to its users.
On opening the program, you will see a plain grid that looks much the same as an unsophisticated paper calendar, with weekdays marked black and weekends marked red. The current date is highlighted blue.
Unfortunately, the design of the software is not the only thing that reminds of a paper calendar. Here also goes the unbelievably limited functionality. The only thing the calendar can do is creating recurring weekly, monthly and annual events and events taking place on a particular day. It is not even possible to set reminders for upcoming events. To add to that, the procedure of setting new tasks and viewing the created ones definitely lacks convenience: users have to choose among the options of the right-click context menu.
Moreover, Fast Calendar cannot boast its accessibility - it doesn't sit in the system tray, in contrast to most programs of the kind. Each time you want to see if there's anything planned for the day, you have to launch the program, which is undeniably far from being appreciated by its users.
In the times when it is possible to find a program for any taste, it is hard to believe that the shareware Fast Calendar will gain popularity because even any decent paper calendar can be a successful alternative to this clunky software. |
