Download zip files

Postby BGM » Sat May 12, 2012 10:53 pm

Hello y'all! I have FlashGot in my firefox, which I like to use for downloading images (with QuickDrag, I just give the images a little nudge and voila! there I have them). However, whenever I click on .zip download links, they don't get picked up in FDM. FDM will grab all exe files with no problem.

I have looked all over the settings files for both Flashgot and FDM and can't find the right ones to set to make FDM download zip files. Please help!

Have you checked to see if .ZIPs are in the skip list?

FDM Options --> Settings --> Monitoring -- Skip list button

Please read the FDM FAQ and to report bugs follows the instructions in this post:

No, it isn't in my skip list. (Thanks for answering. I really love FDM - I think it is one of the very best downloaders out there)

Hello
I have the latest 3.9.2 build 1289 and exactly same problem

ZIP extension is not listed on the list of exclusions too..

when i turn on ZIP previews, downloads are correctly passed to FDM, where ZIP preview dialog appears.
when i turn ZIP previews off, downloads are proccessed by firefox directly and only.

(in both moments download of other files and file extensions through FIREFOX and FDM works correctly)

------------------------------

EDIT: i have updated FDM manually to 3.9.3, altought FDM auto updater was telling me, "you have the latest available version", LOL and it did NOT helped

but when i went to firefox settings for different filetypes, ZIP extension and i selected "always ask what action perform" sudennly it started passing ZIP downloads directly to FDM, so now everything works correctly, problem solved.

Actually, I got FDM to pick up zip downloads by using FlashGot in Firefox. That works most of the time, but not all of the time. Sometimes, depending on how the download link is structured (sometimes it is a php server link, not a link to an actual file), FDM receives most of the zip files and Firefox ends up with a few.

But the trick, so far as I know, is to use FlashGot.
