Windows 7 64-bit, Chrome as browser. Longtime user of FDM3.
Decided to give FDM5 a go. Started FDM 3 as administrator, went to settings, turned of all the browser monitoring etc,
Went to the link at the beginning if this thread, downloaded the FDM5 installer (with Chrome native downloader) and ran it. Install appeared to work through and finish, and I clicked on the button to finish and FDM5 opened...
But, while the FDM5 window looks good, the main area has remained empty, the title bar says 'Not responding', the Task manager shows it running continuously, taking up a low of 25 and a high of 50 percent of the cpu, and the memory it's using has been slowly climbing. It's been going like this for a good ten minutes, and its memory use is now 1.1 Gb! I assumed for the first few minutes that it was reading data and configuration from the FDM3 install and when it finished it would settle down. But like I said, it's been going for 10 - probably more like 15 - minutes now, the memory's still climbing, the cpu use is still going, and I'm thinking I'm going to have to kill it in the task manager.
So something appears to be wrong. Advice? Help?
Hello, David!
I see you've discussed the issue with Usher already,
But if it's not too much trouble, could you assist us in finding the problem?
We'd appreciate it if you could send us your downloads list to support@freedownloadmanager.org ,
Because what you've described shouldn't be happening, that must be a bug,
To find the downloads list, please go to %APPDATA% (in Explorer), then proceed to the "Free Download Manager" folder, copy and compress it to an archive, and please send us the archive.
Thank you in advance!
Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
Can you update the plug-in? Everytime I update the program I have to edit the plug-in. Have Firefox nightly build 35 installed. Thanks.

Hello!
We increment the MaxVersion only when we are absolutely sure everything's good, and that it won't mess things up for other FDM users. Basically, the nightly and alpha builds are subjects to change, so we are not rushing to make any statements about compatibility. If we do claim the plugin is compatible whereas it isn't, Mozilla might actually penalize us in some way.

Well, the only thing I could suggest is writing a bat file, I suppose,
Thanks for the feedback!

Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
Hello, I use FDM for a long time. As I don't have too much time to do testing, I am not using the FDM 5 alpha version.
Still, I have some sugestions:
1. Let torrent, video download, converter, any other function aside download manager to be an optional ADD-ON. I don't want a software that tries to do everything but fails on doing half of it.
2. Please, if you insist on using web installer, that's OK, but consider this:
a) Ask for what functions the person wants on it FDM before downloading the installation files, so it will only download necessary files. This way it will really save internet usage. Otherwise using a web installer is useless as it does the same as downloading a full installer.
b) Make the web installer always download the latest build, so I won't have to go again in FDM website, download again a "minimal" web installer only to after it have to download the installation files.
3. If implement any kind of converter option (like converting youtube videos to MP3), please, add "convert to M4A/AAC" option

Hello!
2. b) The system is already in place,
3. We'll keep that in mind, but converters won't be added any time soon, I'm afraid.
The other points you made have been taken into consideration as well,
Thanks for the feedback!

Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
When can we see the new FDM 5.0 stable version

Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
Hi there, I've been trying out the new FDM 5 and I got to say I'm very impressed, especially since its an alpha version. The new UI is very good as well, though it could use a few improvements few and there, for example like adding OPTIONAL categories like "videos, applications, documents, etc..."
Also I would like to be able to set default download directory in the settings, something that is currently missing.
I have a problem to report with the capturing of videos. I'm running win 7 64bit and in Chrome 37.0.2062.120 m (64-bit) on http://www.gametrailers.com free download manager 5 is unable to capture the video files.
Here is an example link, http://www.gametrailers.com/videos/7282 ... 4--trailer but I can't capture any video on that website.

Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
Hey there, me again with another issue. FDM 5 seems to be unable to detect videos on http://www.dailymotion.com when using Chrome browser.
I'm using Chrome again the same version as I posted above in a previous post. There is no download button just above the video or "download video" option on right click making it impossible to download videos from that site.
Firefox v32.0.2 has "download video" option in the right click menu and I'm able to download videos on dailymotion through firefox.
Again I'm using win 7 64bit version OS.
EDIT: It seems FDM 5 can't download video from most websites in Chrome. Again I'm using Chrome Version 37.0.2062.120 m (64-bit). There is no download button next to videos, nor "download video" option in right click on pretty much all the websites I've tried to download video from.

Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
Can you please add support for Opera and Waterfox web browsers to FDM 5?
Right now it only has support for IE(which no one uses anyways), FF and Chrome, which are the most used two browsers, but there are better alternatives these days and Opera and Waterfox are one of those.
Also you can't download video in Chrome as I've already reported, so you are forced to use FF if you want to download video with FDM 5.

Re: FDM 5.0 alpha
Considering Opera is based upon the same code as Chrome, and supports many of the same addons, have you tried using the Chrome addon in Opera and seeing if it works?
Same for Waterfox, except that it is based on Mozilla code, so a Firefox addon (probably with some sort of modification) should work.
