Download Problem with UserID and Password

Postby Lost as Usual » Fri Jan 01, 2016 3:40 pm

This is not a complaint, just two questions. I am Using FDM 3.9.6, build 1614, and Windows 7 Home Premium, with FDM set to monitor Firefox 43.0.3.

Yesterday, I tried several times to download a software program that required me to insert a UserID and Password to access the file. Each time, FDM would start the download process and then quit, indicating that the UserID and/or password was/were improper. I was able to get the file by using Internet Explorer.

Why did FDM fail, and is there some way that I could have used it to get the file?

Since you said it worked in IE that would mean it's the Browser fault not FDM.

Even if that is so, then what caused it? I am not arguing that perhaps Fx improperly passed the information to FDM, as I have no idea who FDM browser monitoring works, just asking how the failure might have been generated.

IE was not set to use FDM monitoring, so I have no way of knowing if having that set would have also failed. (Having downloaded the file, which had a date/time limit, I no longer have the relevant information, so cannot try IE with FDM monitoring.)

With the changes in FireFox they probably broke something in FDM. There's not much one can do unless you send the problem to Mozilla to to look into the problem.
