Rapidshare and FDM

Postby Jonathan » Wed Jun 25, 2008 11:47 pm

I've been downloading files using Rapidshare Premium, FlashGot, Firefox, and FDM for ages now. Its been working fine until recently, where downloading anything using rapidshare links gives me a 5kb file. I've looked pretty hard for answers and tried to make sense out of most of them, as most are poorly explained.

I've tried going to my rapidshare settings>configuration and checking, saving and unchecking "Direct downloads, requested files are saved without redirection via RapidShare" many times. Still downloaded 5kb files.

I've also tried uninstalling FlashGot and using FDM's monitoring options with Firefox and clipboard. Also didn't work.

I've tried downloading manually without FDM. One link at a time. That did work.

Does anyone have a clear explanation and solution to get rapidshare links to work with FDM?

Bump.

20+ views and no reply... did I mention I looked through previous posts relevant to my problem and it didn't help?

What firewall do you use? What antivirus?
Did you look at:

I use Nod32 (ESET Smart Security). And yes, I have looked at that and tried it. Didn't help.

Do you use password with >20 characters? Do you use special signs in your password? Do you use alias?

Passwords I've been changing too usually contain less than 10 characters, one time with all letters, one time with all numbers, one time with a combination of both.

It could be that the file has been deleted from Rapidshare, this downloads the web page.
Check the Rapidshare link with.html on th end of the rar, this will tell you if the file has ben deleted.

go to your rapidshare premium account, go to download settings, and click the check box that selects "direct downloads".

I was having the same problem as all of you, and this fixed it perfectly.

you are just downloading the link YOU MUST DOWNLOAD FILE's LINK(COPY THE LINK OF THE FILE ) THIS HAPPEN WHEN YOU COPY THE LINK OF THE WEB PAGE.
in rapidshare you must go to the site and they will tell a link that is another link to a page so DO NOT COPY THAT AND PUT IT ON "FDM"
GO TO THAT LINK AND AFTER FEW SECONDS THEN NEXT LINK COMES THEY WANT SHOW YOU THAT SO .. the only way is (MY Way) in fire fox when the file starts to download i pause the download and go to properties of fire fox
and then you GET THE CORRECT LINK TO THE FILE YOU WANT TO DOWNLOAD ........THEN PASTE IT IN THE "FDM".>>>> THEN THE FILE WILL DOWNLOAD CORRECTLY........

****** NOTE-- if you are a free user of rapid share you only can download one file at a time so make sure you stop the download in the fire fox and the start again in FDM after few (60) second's to ( about 2 Min's) otherwise the the link want work so wait and try later..

I had problems with a certain ISP that used a transparent proxy. As a result FDM would download an HTML redirect page ("redirecting to ...").

If your cookie was deleted, or the file was removed, you will downlad a tiny .rar file as you said. Rename or add the extension to .htm and open in your browser. The page will display a message that can give you a hint at the nature of your problem.

My problem with the ISP was weird. I could reload the URL several times and it would ALWAYS work either the 2nd, 3rd or 4th time! In addition, about 20% of completed downloads were corrupted. I pretty much maxed out my RS limits because of these repeated downloads of the same file...

Now I am using a different ISP (I'm in a different country altogether) and never, ever had any problems with RS.

download fails

Sometimes I have the same problem. I get a 5K or 8K file.
You should check the properties of the download.
Sometimes the URL is something like http://rs123xy.rapidshare.com/.....
or http://rapidshare.com/....
Change the URL to http://www.rapidshare.com/..... and restart the download. This usually works for me

Change extension of 5kb rar to html. You will see what's wrong.

not OP. I've changed the extension and it says wrong password. But password is correct.

I have a password that starts with numbers and ends with numbers. It's 12 characters long.

I have experienced such password problem with a few linux apps. If it's not because it's too long, it's because it starts with numbers...
