Want settings in INI file instead of Registry / no Appdata

Postby Stefan » Fri Jan 07, 2005 4:34 pm

Hi all, Hi Alex,

is there a way to store that *.bak and *.sav files
in program folder instead of "Username\Application data".

And is there a way to store the registry settings
in an INI file in the program folder too ?

I want to have all files and settings in one folder
for easy share between desktop-pc and laptop
and/or for use with an usb stick.

If other user wish the same,
please add an comment to this thread
so the FDM-author knows how many people want this too.

(Is there already an thread about this feature
pls post the link here, i didn´t found any, thanks)

Happy new year
Stefan

Registry config is better for GroupPolicy and eterprise management. U prefer to leave registry settings. It would be great to add windows domain .ADM template file creation to the roadmap. This will allow to push you perfect downloader to the enterprise.

Definitely prefer an ini / cfg file

I would most definitely prefer an ini / cfg file in the prog's folder rather than adding yet more bloat to my registry.

Fortunately I don't have to share my PC with several other users or go through the log on hassle on every boot.

I’ve seen some programs that offer a checkbox option to save its settings in a configuration file.

What about option for choosing to store configuration in registry or ini file?

PS: I prefer ini file.

I like such tools i simply can copy and use on an other pc.
So i love apps they don´t wrote in the registry but use an ini file instead.

As Stefan (right?) wrote i´d like an option to have an ini too.

And iam just discover thoose files in my profil folder, thanks stefan.
And YES i´d like to have this files in program folder too :D

The ini option is cool to use FDM on an other pc without mess up the registry, e.g. at school, at work, at a friends pc, at ....

Thanks for a cool soft
