Feature Request

Postby vbbretty » Fri Sep 12, 2008 4:20 am

How about selecting multiple NICs to be used for downloading a file?

I have multiple internet connections on occasion. For instance, if I plug in my cell phone and have my internet plugged into my computer, it would be awesome to use both NICs.

Or better yet, how about multiple proxy connections? I can go into a library and install 5 proxy servers on 5 different machines, and setup Free Download Manager on another machine. If I point Free Download Manager to the 5 local IPs of the other computers, I can utilize bandwidth from all 6 computers to download my file. This would be awesome since most institutions limit bandwidth per NIC.

Thanks,
Brett

Also, there should be a way to filter out file types that you don't want FDM to download

Browse for folder to include files

Postby guest » Sun Sep 14, 2008 11:12 am

Feature suggestion;

When adding a download, there is the option to choose a different folder to download to rather than the default. This dialog box allows the user to browse the folders to pick a new one.

It'd be handy if this browsing window also included the files too, so that I could choose a folder to 'overwrite' with the download.

Reason: I maintain a library of downloaded legal documents. The names I store my copies under are longer and more descriptive than the online source. A new document replaces an old one.

When I try to change the folder, I then have to tell FDM not to automatically create a name, then I have to specify the name I want, etc etc. PITA and somewhat clunky compared to an otherwise streamlined product.

So, would be cool if you could include files in the 'browse for new directory' dialog (much as IE already does) with a confirmation of perhaps "Do you want to use this filename or just this folder?" or something.

maybe something like an icon for work related downloads, one for importants ones and so on.

Encrypted BitTorrent transfers. This will become more and more important since a lot of ISP's are implementing traffic shaping mainly to be able to throttle bittorrent traffic.

When download video from youtube, please get the video's info from author, it's on the right under the author name, into FDM download comment. That's important.

For Torrents
Please add support for selecting only the files you want to download from the torrent file like in uTorrent,

in uTorrent you can choose to download only the songs (files)you want from a full album file...
Very handy feature that is not supported in FDM

Wake computer

Postby shanem » Sat Oct 11, 2008 8:37 am

H,
Could you add an option in the scheduler to wake a computer from sleep? Or enable the computer to wake to run a task...??

Thanks,

Shane

Feature Request: Bandwidth Usage History Graph

Postby BAHRAM1024 » Sat Oct 11, 2008 11:51 pm

Sometimes I just want to know exactly what is going on, ofcourse without looking at numbers for a while.

A simple Speed/Time history graph of last one minute put in the main window grid.

GetRight somehow has this feature, but in individual download windows.

Hi.. I really need an option to put 'Priority' on Schedule Options (When Done/InError) for each download.

For e.g:
Schedule -> On event: -> When Done/InError -> Priority (1-25)

Meaning if all downloads complete:

- A File with 'Priority 2' would not start If a File with 'Priority 1' exists.

- 2 Files with same 'Priority' would start at the same time.
